Follyfoot was a very popular TV programme based on Cobblers Dream and Follyfoot by Monica Dickens, screened for 3 years by Yorkshire Television between 1971 and 1973. The series had great storylines and was set,and filmed on location, in North Yorkshire between Leeds and Harrogate.
The series was aimed squarely at teenagers and the problems they faced just growing up. However, it was more than just a collection of "girl's own tales" about horses; the stories often included quite hard hitting comments on less palatable aspects of British life and attitudes towards minority groups and animals.
The series starred Gillian Blake, Steve Hodson, Christian Rodska, Desmond Llewelyn and Arthur English, who played the well-loved characters Dora, Steve, Ron, the Colonel and Slugger.
